beautiful bias bindingTry your hand at making some of your own bias binding at Handmade: a festival of making in Wellington over Queen’s Birthday weekend. Bias binding is a strip of woven fabric cut on the diagonal to make it flexible and a little bit stretchy. It can go round curves, neaten edges and seams. It allows us to use fragments of gorgeous fabrics as a feature. You can use it as a hem on a heavy fabric or one where you haven’t got quite enough main fabric. You’ll need bias binding strip if you’re going to make piping – with or without cord – for upholstery or dressmaking projects.
