I’m fond of anything liquorice-flavoured in its natural (tarragon, fennel, dill, star anise) or processed (pastis, licorice chocolate logs, Black Adder Chai) state. When I wanted a change from salad for lunch I tried some caramelised fennel and apple. Would have been great with a pork chop, had I had one. Home made dukkah with fennel seeds is simple to make and fig and fennel seed biscotti make a great gift.
I’ve paced my pruning this year to minimise the risk of overuse with the secatures. Espaliers are done and just the pears, vines and kiwifruit to go. It’s International Film Festival time in Wellington, so that helps when it comes to taking a break.
If you’re on their list, you should have received the King’s seed catalogue which means it’s time to order some seeds for spring. Nice to look at the real catalogue but much easier to order on line.
If you have some classy threads to recycle, register for The Big Shwop on Sunday at St James’ Theatre in Wellington.
