I’ve just pulled out broad beans, broccoli, coriander, radishes, lettuces, chicory and parsley to make space for summer crops. August-sown quick brassicas (pak Choi and Chinese cabbage and brocolli) are ready or nearly ready.  I’ve just started picking some delicious sugar snap peas with plenty more to come. Corn and onions are already in but beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkin and squash are waiting in pots. A thick layer of aged compost from BioRich will give them a good start ($35 for a 1/2 metre cubed / 500l scoop in a trailer). All the compost I made between April and August is now in a 350l compost bin into which I’ll plant a zucchini so I’m needed some outside resources.

Flowers for the vegetable garden include calendula, sunflowers, cosmos and zinnia for hot summer days.
